The coming months will see a few excellent opportunities for like-minded individuals to come together and highlight some of the most recent discoveries and climate solutions in the aviation industry. These events expand the dialogue on sustainable aviation and provide insights into the steps being made to achieve bluer skies.
April 26 – Contrail Happy Hour (San Francisco, U.S.A.)
In tandem with the SF Climate Week (April 22-27), Blue Lines is hosting a happy hour to facilitate the exchange of ideas around how contrail management can be enormously beneficial for aviation’s climate impact.
April 30-May 2 – ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (Punta Cana, Dominican Republic)
ICAO intends to highlight some of the most recent digital tools and initiatives being implemented in sustainable aviation. Speakers will focus on strategies for a safe, sustainable future for the skies.
May 15-16 – Sustainable Skies World Summit (Farnborough, U.K.)
A convention on sustainable aviation that showcases some of the exciting progress being made by businesses and airlines. A series of speakers and panels will discuss some of the latest technology and innovations leading the industry.
May 15 & May 28 – Research Agenda for Reducing the Climate Impact of Aviation-Induced Cloudiness and Persistent Contrails from Commercial Aviation Meetings #1 and #2 (Virtual Meeting)
These are meetings by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to establish and share an agenda to advance the research and solutions regarding aviation-induced cloudiness and persistent contrails. The meetings are virtual and open access with speakers from NASA.
May 21-23 – Sustainable Aviation Futures Congress (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
A congress of discussions and presentations with a focus on SAF development and application. With a host of speakers and organizations will be present in an effort to expand the field or knowledge around aviation decarbonization.
July 12 – Research Agenda for Reducing the Climate Impact of Aviation-Induced Cloudiness and Persistent Contrails from Commercial Aviation Meeting #3 (Virtual Meeting)
An open-session, online meeting to further the discussion on the Research Agenda for Reducing the Climate Impact of Aviation-Induced Cloudiness and Persistent Contrails from Commercial Aviation.
July 22-26 – Farnborough International Airshow (Farnborough, U.K.)
This veritable exhibition of all things aviation presents the advances in aerospace engineering and the partnerships responsible for making it happen. It also offers the chance to build connections and work with some of the sharpest minds in aviation.
August 19-21 – Research Agenda for Reducing the Climate Impact of Aviation-Induced Cloudiness and Persistent Contrails from Commercial Aviation Meeting #4 (Virtual Meeting)
Sessions spread out over a few days with open discussions for data gathering and closed meetings for deliberation. Aiming to continue the dialogue on the national research agenda to develop operational solutions to aviation-induced-cloudiness.
September 16-18 – ICAO Symposium on Non-CO2 Aviation Emissions (Montreal, Canada)
Aiming to raise awareness of the environmental effects of non-CO2 aviation emissions and some of the people leading the research and making a difference. An opportunity to dive deeper into the science surrounding non-CO2 emissions and what’s being done to mitigate them.
September 24-25 – World Sustainability Symposium (Miami, U.S.A.)
Hosted by IATA, this symposium will gather industry and government leaders to discuss the steps needed to meet aviation’s decarbonization goals. This will be the second edition of the WSS and looks to build on the successes of the first symposium in Madrid.
October 10 – Contrail Observations Webinar (Virtual Meeting)
A collaboration of Reuniwatt, Google, and Eurocontrol will host a webinar to explore the technology used in detecting and monitoring contrails. This should be an enlightening discussion on the trajectory of contrail observation.
We’re looking forward to these events and the knowledge that they’ll offer on all the work going into achieving aviation’s sustainability goals. If you know of any upcoming relevant summits or conferences that we have missed, please reach out and let us know: mcaldwell@endthelines.org.
