The U.S. House of Representatives recently announced the creation of a bipartisan alliance for sustainable aviation to develop goals and strategies to lessen aviation’s climate impact. The Congressional Sustainable Aviation Caucus, (CSAC) headed by Representatives Sharice Davids (D – Kansas) and Dusty Johnson (R – South Dakota), “will work to reduce the aviation industry’s environmental impact and maximize its financial sustainability.”1
This is a big step toward the establishment of policies that will shape the future of environmentally conscious flight in the U.S. By encouraging the production and distribution of SAF and other technological improvements, the CSAC will be pivotal in charting and conquering the challenges which inhibit sustainable measures. With frequent briefings covering current affairs, new developments, and operational enhancements the Caucus can keep the public informed about the progress being made.
End the Lines is delighted by the prospect of what this alliance can offer the aviation industry. We aim to connect with this Caucus soon to discuss the importance of contrail management in the hopes that they will make it a key component of their agenda.
